Mike Rounds - Bass
A tidbit about myself:
I grew up as a casual (not failed, I hate that phrase) guitarist. Some
time, around the early nineties, I started playing the bass just to fill
in for a friend's band. The next thing I knew, even though my friend's
project was finished, I was still working away on the bass, and my
guitars were sitting there collecting dust. I guess it was a simple case
of finding the instrument that fit my personality.
Our recently released Ep (available at
cdstreet.com) was written on, and
recorded with a Yamaha TRB-II, 5 string. Since then, I have stepped into
the world of the 6 string. Admittedly, that 6th string isn't seeing a
whole lot of action yet, but we're getting to aquatinted.
Inspirations:
I would like to "tip my hat" to a few bass artisans who's work I greatly
admire. Weather or not they are actual influences on my playing, they
have all inspired me to be a better musician ... thanks dudes.
Steve Bailey, Geddy Lee, Tony Levin, John Myung, Billy Sheehan, Chris
Squire,
Vic Wooten.
And a very special acknowledgment Mr. David Saint Hubbins. For it was he
delivered unto us this timeless wisdom through which all my bass lines
are filtered... "It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."
Equipment: (for those who care)basses:
Yamaha TRB-II 6 string, Yamaha TRB-II 5 string, Carvin LB7 6 string
fretless, Kramer Forum-II 4 string
Amplification and electronics:
David Eden "Navigator" preamp, Mackie M1400i power amp, Gallien Krueger
410 RHB cabinet, Gallien Krueger 115 RHB cabinet, Alesis "Midi-verb-3"
signal processor, dbx dual channel compressor/limiter, Korg DTR-1 tuner,
Audio Technica 1400-series UHF wireless
On a Personal note:
